Ambivalence in (un)certain times

March 7, 2024 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Convene events are organised for members of the LSE community.

In the wake of the devastating Israel-Gaza war, Shani Orgad reflects on the ‘war on ambivalence’ in current discourse and how the insistent discourse of either/or is geared towards humiliation. Instead, Orgad explores the potential value of ambivalence: rather that a deficit of certainty or a failure of definitive thinking, ambivalence is proposed as a critical sensibility for our (un)certain times; a way of thinking and feeling for engaging our intellectual and political investments in academia, in the classroom, in our research, and beyond.

This event will be held on Thursday 7th of March from 17:30 – 19:00 in the Student Common Room.

Speaker: Professor Shani Orgad

Chair: Professor Charles Stafford

This event will be on a first-come-first-serve basis.
