Dr Janis Sarra will lead this masterclass on public interest and restructuring and insolvency law.  The session could not be more timely given the decision of the Court of Appeal in Kingston SARL v Thames Water Utilities Holdings Ltd [2025] EWCA Civ 475 and as courts around the world grapple with the relationship between public interest considerations and maximising creditor recoveries in insolvency and restructuring procedures.  The masterclass will be of particular interest to students studying corporate insolvency and restructuring law and to students of environmental law or those interested in the relationship between the state and private markets.

Dr Sarra is Professor of Law Emerita, University of British Columbia, Principal Co-Investigator of the Canada Climate Law Initiative, a member of the Canadian Delegation to UNCITRAL WG V, and past Presidential Distinguished Professor of UBC.  We are enormously fortunate that she will be leading this exciting and topical discussion.  Please join us for what promises to be a lively and fascinating debate.
