PIL Hub Seminar: On Left Internationalism

The PIL hub lunch-time seminar series aims to provide an opportunity to discuss and debate leading research on contemporary, theoretical and historical issues of international law.
Our next PIL Hub seminar will be held on Thursday, February 8th, from 13 to 14.30 in the Moot Court Room.
We will have the opportunity to hear from Dr Ayça Çubukçu, Associate Professor in Human Rights and Co-Director of LSE Human Rights at the London School of Economics and Political Science. The title of her seminar is ‘On Left Internationalism’.
Speaker Bio:
Ayça Çubukçu is Associate Professor in Human Rights and Co-Director of LSE Human Rights at the London School of Economics and Political Science. A transdisciplinary scholar by training, Dr. Çubukçu holds a BA in Government with Distinction in All Subjects from Cornell University and a PhD with Distinction from the Department of Anthropology at Columbia University. Her research and teaching interests are in social, political and legal theory, with a focus on human rights, cosmopolitanism, political violence, internationalism, postcolonial studies, and transnational social movements. In her research, Dr. Çubukçu examines the politics of transnational solidarity and the entanglement of international law and human rights ideals with the ethics and politics of violence. Her book, For the Love of Humanity: The World Tribunal On Iraq, was published by University of Pennsylvania Press in 2018.
