The Digital Markets Act before the European Union’s Courts
May 16, 2025 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
The Digital Markets Act is the EU’s response to entrenched economic power –“gatekeeping”– in digital markets. It imposes a series of obligations on designated providers of “core platform services”, including social media, web browsers and online search services. During this seminar, the speaker will give an overview of past and pending DMA cases before the EU’s Courts, and comment on what legal issues might come up in future cases. The speaker’s principal aim is to outline some interesting topics for future doctrinal research. A discussion with participants will follow the presentation.
Speaker: Thomas Reyntjens is a Référendaire (Legal Secretary) at the General Court of the European Union. Before joining the Court in 2022, Thomas practised law in Brussels and London. He studied law at Oxford (PhD and Magister Juris) and Leuven (LL.M).
Discussant: Dr. Ayse Gizem Yasar, LSE Law School
This event will be in-person only and will operate on a first-come, first-serve basis.
