The Football Transfer System on Trial: The Diarra Opinion
Former footballer Lassana Diarra has initiated legal action against the FIFA regulations governing the transfer of players before the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU). AG Szpunar has now published his long-awaited opinion in the case. In it, he finds that the existing transfer system violates EU competition and free movement law. We will discuss the implications of the opinion with leading sports law experts.
