Rather than focusing strictly on how the commons are formally (mis)recognised or regulated in (international) law, the event foregrounds the diverging modes of dis/ordering that practices of commoning can produce.

Rather than concentrating only on how the commodities of oil and coal are formally framed or regulated as objects of international law, this event aims to foreground the patterns and imaginaries of global dis/ordering that these materials generate. It thereby aims to trace the multiple entanglements between fossil fuels and the infrastructural and institutional conduits of global power.

This series of seminars on the future of FMI, hosted by the LSE Law School, was established in 2020 in order to provide a forum for interdisciplinary discussion of the most pressing issues relating to this systemic part of the global financial markets. Cryptoassets have emerged as a controversial asset class and the market for cryptoassets has been lightly regulated but had experienced an exponential growth since the birth of Bitcoin following the global financial crisis 2008. This online panel will discuss about risks and regulatory challenges relating to the market for cryptoassets.
