Former footballer Lassana Diarra has initiated legal action against the FIFA regulations governing the transfer of players before the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU). AG Szpunar has now published his long-awaited opinion in the case. In it, he finds that the existing transfer system violates EU competition and free movement law. We will discuss the implications of the opinion with leading sports law experts.

Successful applicants will work at the chambers of an Advocate General for three months and receive a stipend from LSE of €1,377 per month for costs of living as well a lump sum of £400 for travel costs.
